minutesI made these up. I had some leftover feta in my frog and a jar of sun dried tomatoes and lots of fresh basil, mint and oregano in my garden. My son wanted burgers and I wanted light burgers, so I mixed some ground pork into the ground turkey for flavor and fat. I also wanted to make a burger that didn’t need any binding ingredient like eggs, milk or breadcrumbs. These were a hit with both the adults in the house as well as the children. They were moist, delicious and I made them the day before then covered well with plastic wrap to broil in the oven.
Ingredients
1 lb ground turkey, dark meat
1/4 lb ground pork
1/4 cup sun dried tomatoes, chopped
4 green onions, minced
1-2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese
Chopped fresh: basil, mint and oregano
Salt and fresh ground pepper
1 Tablespoon Aleppo pepper
Directions
- Turn oven on to 435. In a large bowl, mix together: turkey, pork, sun dried tomatoes, green onions, garlic, fresh herbs, salt and fresh ground pepper, and Aleppo pepper.. Gently mix all together and form patties. Once patties are made cover with many layers of plastic wrap. Allow to sit in the frig for a few hours until everything is cold. Preheat oven to 425.
- Remove patties from frig and allow to warm up, about 20 minutes.. Place a cookie sheet in the oven to allow to get hot.Sprinkle hot pan with oil and add the burgers.
- Allow burgers to cook without touching them. When you think they are ready take the temperature, if it registers over 165. Do not overcook.
- Serve with toasted bun, sliced tomato and lettuce. A pickle and fries help.
