minutesI came up with this recipe a couple summers ago. I sliced up a bunch of fresh fruit, brushed them with a little avocado oil and grilled them lightly. I them placed the warm fruit on a platter and on another platter I served small pitchers of warmed chocolate and caramel sauces. I had bowls filled with mascarpone cheese, creme fraiche or you can use sour cream, fresh sweetened whipping cream, and since I have kids, I had a small bowl filled with sprinkles. Get creative, once the fruits is warm, get creative. My kids love peaches and pineapple with caramel and a dollop of creme fraiche. Figs are delicious with warm chocolate sauce dipped into sweetened whipped cream. We use large strawberries as well. Even honey is delicious on all these fruits. My kids will even mound the fruit on a graham cracker. Make it what you want. You can make S’more kababs with fruit and marshmallows or buy some fluff and dip the fruit in there and in the caramel sauce or warmed chocolate sauce. This is almost like S’mores meets Fondue.
Ingredients
4 peaches, nectarines or/and plums
1 pineapple, skin removed, cored and sliced then
1 cantaloupe, halved, seeded and sliced
Large Strawberries, tops trimmed off
4 Tablespoons avocado oil
Chocolate sauce
Caramel sauce
Mascarpone cheese
Creme Fraiche or sour cream
Fluff
Sprinkles, rainbow or chocolate
Honey, either hot or flavored like chestnut, lavender, creamed or raw
Directions
- Light the grill. You want it hot so that the fruit cooks quickly without burning. For the stone fruit, cut in half, remove pit and lightly brush with oil. Place on grill and allow to get some grill marks. For the pineapple, oil both sides and allow to get some grill marks. The same goes for melon. For the large strawberries, it might be wise to skewer them so they cook more evenly and without falling through the cracks.
- Arrange warmed fruit on a platter and have people doctor their fruit the way they like it.
- This is a fun way to play with your food and enjoy the flavors as well.
- It is so easy and delicious. Add more fruit for larger parties or big eaters.
