minutesWe love this recipe. I found it years ago in a Williams Sonoma cookbook. I am a huge fan of the store and all their published books. I make this so often that I know it by heart. I change it up sometimes and add cinnamon, ground ginger, vanilla sugar or citrus zest. You can get creative. These are light and flavor so wonderful. I have doubled this recipe so to have extra’s for leftovers or freeze to toast and add butter jam or and honey.
Ingredients
3 cups flour
5 Tablespoons sugar
2 Tablespoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, ground ginger or/and vanilla sugar or 1/2 teaspoon lemon or orange zest
4 eggs
3 cups whole milk
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted and cool
Nonstick cooking spray
Maple Syrup, hot
Directions
- Preheat waffle iron following the instructions
- In a large bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and flavoring. In a medium bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla. Add the egg mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until there are no lumps.
- Spray the waffle iron before add ing the batter. ladle about 3/4 cup onto the prepared waffle maker. Close the lid and cook until waffles are golden brown and cooked through, 3-4 minutes.
- Using a fork to keep waffles warm before serving in a warm oven on a warmed baking sheet. Serve hot.
