My husband and I are very active. We always have been. My husband got into Triathlon when he turned 50 and has been excelling at those. He dropped 35 pounds and looks amazing. I have always enjoyed working out as I find it clears my head and helps me start the day in the right state of mind. When I travel I love to walk all over and really see the sights from small streets to parks to historical markers. I usually average about 25,000 steps. When my husband and I travel, we usually check out Core Power Yoga studios.
We also love to hike. I love being outdoors and breathing fresh air. I feel better and digest better. Sometimes, we can even pull our kids out of bed to join us. We managed a few hikes when we were in Italy in June visiting family.
We hiked from Camogli to Santa Margherita, about 14 miles. It was glorious and we really enjoyed our dinner that night and the amazing Ligurian wines we drank.
I recommend when traveling or at home, at least get out for a walk and breathe in the fresh air. It is good for you but helps you in many ways that are healthy. I love walking with my friends or with family. I love taking my pooch, Barolo, for long walks. I am sure people think I am crazy for talking to him. But I love my dog and we communicate.
Take a walk, have an adventure, say hello to a passer by, let your eyes and ears be your guide and ease your heart. Walk lightly and enjoy the beauty and quiet around you. It may not be quiet as you are walking down a busy city street, BUT no one is talking at you, so it is your moment to define and enjoy. I love it all busy cities or serene trails. I love smiling and taking in my surroundings. It is my time and it is my time to seize the day.
