I love this recipe. This has been my go to recipe since I was a young girl. I love this recipe because if you want to change the flavor instead of using vanilla you can use coffee which makes the frosting taste like mocha. You can use peppermint and it will taste like a peppermint patty. This recipe will frost 18 cup cakes or 2 9 inch round cakes or 1 9x13x2.
6 Tablespoons butter, at room temperature
1/2 cup unsweetened baking cocoa
2 2/3 cups sifted powdered sugar
2-6 Tablespoons milk or coffee
1 teaspoon vanilla extract or 1/2 teaspoon peppermint or orange blossom or instead add rum/bailey’s/grand marnier
- In a bowl, mix everything together on low speed, gradually increase speed until everything comes together.
- Play with the recipe and figure out the flavoring you enjoy. You can also add rum or bailey’s or Grand Marnier.
