Easy Chocolate FrostingCourse: DessertCuisine: AmericanDifficulty: EASY
My grandmother gave me this recipe maybe 40 years ago and it is a staple. Foe really good chocolate frosting that is simple and you can easily tweak the flavor by halving the amount of milk and adding vanilla, rum, coffee, Grand Mariner, or Kahlua. Have fun with it. It is an easy, quick recipe just remember to let the butter set out. Sometimes for smoother frosting I do sift the powdered sugar and baking cocoa to make a better presentation.
6 Tablespoon butter, room temperature
1/2 cup Hershey’s unsweetened cocoa powder
2 2/3 cups powdered sugar
4-6 Tablespoons whole milk or (3-4 TB)coffee, dark rum, kailua
1/2 to 1 teaspoon vanilla
- Place it all in a large bowl and beat with an electric hand mixer until all is blended. You want it to Spread easily. Makes 2 cups of frosting which is enough for a 7/8/9 inch round cake.
